Greg Gewickey is a VP of Technology for Warner Bros.
Greg’s group assesses the impact of emerging
technologies and platforms on content creation and
distribution, implementing new production and
distribution technologies in support of the mission/goals
of the WB divisions. This involves outreach to
universities, interfacing with the venture community
and managing new technology initiatives within WB.
Greg also serves on the WB patent committee. He has
worked with various standards bodies including
UltraViolet?, the UHD Alliance, SMPTE, the Blu-ray
Disc Association, and EIDR. He is a member of the
NATAS Emmy technical awards committee.
Greg has over 30 years of experience in the software industry. He started his career with IBM designing software for mainframe systems. From there, he worked on Mobile Computing for the IBM PC Company (ThinkPad). In 1995, he joined Philips Electronics as a Manager of Research with a focus on the Internet and networked consumer electronics. His group started two home network initiatives, the Home AV Initiative (HAVi) based on IEEE1394 (Firewire) and HomeAPI based on IP, which later became Universal Plug-n-Play Forum (UPnP). While consulting for several start-ups, he joined InterActual? which created Internet-enabled DVD applications for major Hollywood releases like the Matrix and Harry Potter. Greg then spent time at Walt Disney Studios in the Studio New Technology department and several years developing an OTT service for Deluxe Entertainment. Recently, at WB, Greg has been co-leading a cross-divisional team exploring the entertainment opportunities employing VR, AR and MR. Additionally, Greg works with the Time Warner Investment team on technology-related opportunities.
Greg has had experience in systems architecture and design, strategic planning, competitive analysis, solution architecture, IP rights and management. Greg has degrees in Math and Computer Science from Furman University.
